Our Services

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on improving socially significant behaviors by breaking down complex skills into smaller components and using positive reinforcement to teach and reinforce those skills. ABA therapy is most commonly used as a treatment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but it can also be used to treat other developmental and behavioral disorders.

ABA therapy involves observing the individual in various settings and gathering data on their behavior. This information is used to create a treatment plan that is tailored to the individual's needs and goals. The therapy involves teaching new skills and behaviors, reinforcing appropriate behaviors, and decreasing unwanted or maladaptive behaviors. The therapy can be implemented in a one-on-one, small group, or larger classroom or community setting.

ABA therapy is evidence-based, meaning that it has been extensively researched and has a significant amount of scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness. The treatment has been shown to improve communication, social skills, adaptive behaviors, and reduce problem behaviors in individuals with ASD and other developmental disorders.

The Autism Center offers comprehensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy across Sterling, Rock Falls, Dixon, and surrounding areas including direct, one-to-one therapy services, in-depth caregiver training as well as consultation services.

Assessments

An assessment is an important step in the process of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. It is conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who will work with the individual and their family to identify strengths and weaknesses and develop a comprehensive support plan. The assessment is tailored to the individual and their needs, and the results help to create a plan that works for the entire family with goals that capture personal values and cultures.

Caregiver Training

Caregiver Training is essential for providing personalized family care and successful transitioning of clients out of ABA services. Our program is designed to involve family members in the treatment process as much as possible, as they are key to the success of the client's progress. We provide comprehensive training in ABA principles, strategies, and techniques, as well as providing resources and support to families. We believe that effective caregiver training is crucial for transitioning out of ABA services and for continued success in the client's home environment. Our goal is to equip families with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide quality care for their loved one.

Direct Therapy

Direct ABA therapy is a one-to-one care designed to help individuals reach their full potential. It is conducted by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and involves using behavior-analytic teaching techniques to help the child learn skills from communication to activities of daily living to emotional regulation skills.  The goal of direct therapy is to help the individual learn socially significant skills and improve overall quality of life.
